From Jerry Grimes, Worshipful Master

Brethren,

As I close out my year as Worshipful Master, I just wanted to say it has been an extreme honor for me to serve in such an esteemed position in our Lodge.  I wanted to thank my officers that have served with me and all the members of Springville Lodge that have supported me this past year.  With your help all of our projects and fundraisers were a huge success.

We were able to give out seven scholarships to worthy students in our community.  Our Read to Ride program was very successful.  We were also able to help a distressed brother during the flood a few months ago in which he lost most of his possessions, at a time when several members of our community were in dire straits.

We lost a few members due to death but we also gained some new members that I’m sure will be a great benefit to our Lodge for many years to come.  Even though our brethren will be sorely missed, we welcome our new brothers with open arms.

I had the privilege of honoring our Fifty-year and our Twenty Five-year Masons.  Congratulations Brothers for making Masonry the great institution that it is today.

In closing, I just want to thank a few people that made my tenure a lot easier:

  • Wayne Plunkett for the long hours he contributed to the success of our Golf Tournament.

  • Richard Ergle for overseeing our “Read to Ride” program

  • Mike Sampsell for his technical knowledge in maintaining our website.

  • Paul Carter for his help in our fundraisers and to all the members that helped with those      events.

  • Last but not least, Ernest Fain for his guidance and council that made me a better Mason.  His friendship and loyalty mean a lot to me and I will never forget him for it.

Paul Carter will make this lodge a fine Worshipful Master and my hope and prayer is that the brethren will support him as they supported me.

Good Luck Brother Paul, keep us smiling.

In service to our Lord,

Jerry W. Grimes

It is never too late to develop habits of sharing and generosity.  Is there a church of some non-profit group that would benefit from the donation of your time and skills?  The children at our Masonic Home of Georgia is one group that can benefit from our time and talents.  Please remember these children in the upcoming year.  Let us also remember our troops who are in harm's way and their families who are having to endure the hardships of life without them.

today is the day we can begin to break old habits and establish new ones.  Let us begin to walk a new and better path.  For all of us, I pray it is.
