Brethren,
It is truly an honor to be serving you as your Worshipful Master for 2011. I am blessed to be associated with such a loving, caring and dedicated group of men. I have great hopes that this year will be a memorable year for all of us. I have been working on rounding up some great Masons to come to our lodge and speak to us about various things. I’m sure that you will not want to miss those special meetings or any meetings for that matter.
The Grand Lodge of Georgia and the Grand Master have a full slate of programs that they are promoting during 2011. Specifically, they will be promoting the Endowment Fund, Perpetual Memberships, our GAChip program, the Eagle Scout award and the Masonic Blood Drive. To find out more about any of these programs, you can visit the Grand Lodge website @ www.glofga.org or you can speak with me and I will be glad to fill you in on the particular program.
A couple of areas that I intend to promote during my year as Master at Springville #153 are Masonic Education and Leadership Development and Masonic appendant body participation. The MELD program is vital to the education of all Masons but especially our new and young Masons. There are a series of courses that can be taken by individual Masons to further their Masonic knowledge about Blue Lodge practices. Those are available from the Grand Lodge website as well as from our “knowledge” table in the dining room. I have taken all the courses available and would be more than willing to assist any brother who has a desire to complete these courses.
In addition to the MELD program, “further light” can be obtained by continuing your Masonic journey into either the York Rite of Freemasonry or the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry. All of us ventured into Freemasonry to enlighten ourselves with knowledge. Continuing your quest for knowledge into these appendant bodies would serve you well in your Masonic Journey. For petitions or further information on these appendant bodies, please get with me to discuss.
I look forward to this year and the possibilities that it holds. I hope that you share that desire with me to make Springville Lodge the best that it can be.
Fraternally,
Mike Sampsell

It is never too late to develop habits of sharing and generosity. Is there a church of some non-profit group that would benefit from the donation of your time and skills? The children at our Masonic Home of Georgia is one group that can benefit from our time and talents. Please remember these children in the upcoming year. Let us also remember our troops who are in harm's way and their families who are having to endure the hardships of life without them.
today is the day we can begin to break old habits and establish new ones. Let us begin to walk a new and better path. For all of us, I pray it is.
